OUR TOPICS

Future Leader Lab is a program for team leaders like you to acquire the most important

leadership skills of the future.

The topics we cover were chosen based on our research:

  • We asked leading experts to predict which leadership skills are needed the most in the years to come

  • We made a survey for HR professionals and leaders to hear what skills they would consider essential

  • The feedback from previous Future Leader Lab participants has helped to enhance the program.

  • We combined these insights with our own experience about management to create a formula of future leadership.

    And here it is:

PERSONALITY

Facilitator:

Hanna Westerholm

Evaluation method:

WorkPlace Big 5

We all have it. A personality. It stems from our genes and gets shaped by the environment we grow in. Personality develops until we reach the age of 25 to 27 years, after which it remains fairly consistent throughout life.

Even though you cannot change your personality, you can choose how you react and behave. By becoming aware of your personality, you are able to design your life to fit with it. This leads you towards tasks and circumstances where you feel happier and perform better.

Learn self-knowledge to find out what your strengths and weaknesses are. This helps you not only to become a better leader but also to understand your team members better.

The host of this topic is ICF-certified coach Hanna Westerholm. Hanna has a long international experience in HR, marketing and coaching, and educational background in Economics and Sociology. Throughout the years she has been coaching hundreds of individuals and companies.

PSYCHOLOGICAL SAFETY THROUGH EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE

Specialists:

Hanna Westerholm

Assessment tool:

EQ-i: Emotional Quotient-Inventory 2.0®

Listed as one of the most important skills of the 2020s, Emotional Intelligence isn’t a trait we get in birth. It is something we learn and can develop – a group of emotional and social skills that help us to achieve goals in life. Hanna Westerholm will take us through a workshop that is based on the leading assessment tool for emotional intelligence and the 15 emotional intelligence factors it covers.

Your organization wants to have employees with good emotional intelligence skills. That way your employees are more satisfied, more productive, and stay in the company for longer. According to research, by investing in emotional intelligence, an organization can achieve a return up to four times better.* Emotional intelligence also creates an important foundation what comes to leading a team, creating company culture and psychological safety.

Psychological safety brings more diversity, better development, and higher work satisfaction to the team. According to Google’s Project Aristotle, psychological safety explains 40% of a team’s success, being the biggest single factor in achieving great results.

When psychologically safe, employees feel they can be themselves, say what they think, admit their mistakes, and share their knowledge. This will unleash everybody’s full potential and boost innovativity.

But a psychologically safe environment doesn’t come on its own – it must be built. That starts from the leader who uses appreciation, trust, and security as building blocks. Emotional skills are a crucial asset in doing this.

MEANINGFUL WORK AND MOTIVATION

Specialists:

Rosa Nenonen, founder of Pilots Helsinki and author of Merkityksellisen työn kaava
Kimmo "Elastinen" Laiho

According to a recent research, only 15% of employees feel engaged with their organization. Low motivation leads to lesser efficiency and worse results. Although individuals have to consciously keep up their motivation, leadership also plays a role in building and maintaining it.

A key factor in finding motivation, committing to the job and the organization, and work efficiency is meaningful work. Creating possibilities to create meaning in one’s work is one of the most crucial duties of future team leaders. At the same time it is important to notice that the sources of meaningfulness are not the same for everyone. To do this, the participants will work through a model for meaningful work, created by positive psychology coach, author and speaker Rosa Nenonen.

We will also hear a motivating speech by the music producer and entrepreneur Kimmo Laiho, also known by his artist name Elastinen. He is an all-rounder in the music and entertainment business, having built a successful musical career as an artist and helped many others with theirs. Laiho is the co-founder and former CEO of Rähinä Records. He is an inspirer, motivator, and encourager, awarded also as the Most Positive Person of the Year.

COMPANY CULTURE

Specialists:

Pia Adlivankin, Children’s Day Foundation / Linnanmäki Amusement Park
Panu Luukka, Founder of Leidenshaft Oy and author of Yrityskulttuuri on Kuningas -book

Majority of senior executives think that company culture is one of the three biggest factors affecting a company's value. At the same time, only 16% of them believe their own culture is where it should be.*

Don’t leave your company culture in the hands of HR where it becomes a secondary concern. Culture can be managed. In order to maximize its value and minimize its risks you need to become aware of how it works.

In Future Leader LaB you will learn just that. You will acquire a full understanding why a good culture is vital for any organization and what are its key elements.

The experts in this topic are company culture enthusiast, writer and speaker Panu Luukka together with Pia Adlivankin, the CEO of Children’s Day Foundation and Linnanmäki Amusement Park. Pia has studied and worked in the USA and led a wellness hotel for many years. Adlivankin is also a popular speaker in Finland and abroad, specialized in company culture and employee satisfaction.
